The purpose of this collection of guidelines is to clarify how we can create a building or environment that expresses our unique Shambhala culture. The point is not to limit local creativity or cultural diversity, but as the Sakyong has said, “…when you walk into a Shambhala Centre in any part of the world, you should know where you are. You should know that you have entered Shambhala.” A simple example of this is the current guideline that the color for gomdens and zabutons in our Centres is dark blue. Since our culture is constantly developing, guidelines and recommendations will continue to change and adjust to our own understanding of the Guiding Principles that define our world. You are encouraged to share your own ideas with the Panel.
